Europe Adaptation to Technical and Scientific Progress Releases
Periodically the EU’s CLP SDS regulation will adopt updates. These are known as “adaptation to technical and scientific progress” or more commonly ATPs.
Often ATPs will include a list of official GHS classifications of chemicals. This March, ATP15 was adopted. This update added or updated the harmonized classifications of 37 chemicals. The full list can be found here.
ATP16 was put in effect in May of 2021. It did not update any chemical classifications, it updated many of the notes in subsection 1.1.3 of Part 1 of Annex VI to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. Specifically, notes J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, 8 and 9. The official update is here.
TP17 will become mandatory in December of 2022. This update includes 22 new entries, 39 updated entries and one classification deletion.
Important to anyone who uses Boric Acid in their formulations, they have removed the 6.5% threshold for Repr.1B, H360FD classification, it will now classify above 0.1%. The full list can be found here.
As always, these updates are available in Quantum’s SDS Authoring software, so our users are up to date with the current updates.
